Based on the past 100 years of history regarding the Jinju silk industry, this project proposes a new core that can include the future 100 years. The architectural reinterpretation process of silk and related industries symbolises the beginning and end of the silk industry directly or indirectly by planning atypical mass combined diagonal and curved lines with the modular facade of double skim. At the same time, it expresses a dynamic and attractive image of morphologically flexible and oblique curves.
We emphasise frontality through the square and open lobby on the west side and plan a central axis leading to the square, canopy, lobby and exhibition area for international and external scalability and multi-purpose utilisation possibilities. The 12.5m by 12.5m grid structure and open plan-based interior space are divided into the ground floor for education, exhibition and panorama functions, as well as the second floor for planning exhibitions and business purposes. All spaces are organically linked to the plaza and outdoor experience spaces, and visual communication between each exhibition area is always structured with a barrier-free access system.
