In modern society, which can be evaluated as rapid urbanisation along with an increase in the ratio of single-person households, mega-trend of micro-living is naturally formed. Micro-living can be understood as life and physical space in which residents focus on the least essential elements except for unnecessary parts in their residence. Thus, micro-living is assessed as an ideal housing type for the modern society where socio-population changes and flexible forms of working conditions are possible.


European markets regarding micro-living have developed around Germany, France, the UK, and the Netherlands, and it can refer to Austria, Poland, Sweden, Spain, and Ireland as emerging markets the are rapidly growing. Therefore, this research aims to derive implications for activating of micro-living in Korea by analysing the possibility of the German micro-living market and the current status of major metropolitan cities showing rapid growth trend in Germany which is a representative country of continental Europe.
