This study aims to understand walkability theoretically and analyze the walkability effect in urban environment differences focusing on the Wienerberg area in Vienna that is under development centered on urban mobility and life quality for citizens. The analysis standards came from the advanced research results, and the literature review was conducted regarding STEP 2025 and the target area, Wienerberg. The target area was divided into four different zones by urban environment differences, and the evaluation proceeded through the analysis standards. The evaluation results for each district’s walkability were charted visually, at the same time, future development directions were suggested. Finally, the walkability perspectives, detailed subjects and walkability effects in urban environment differences identified in the research process were proposed in terms of urban design. The results of this study can be a theoretical background referenced in the development process for major cities around the world, including Seoul which aims a walkable city.
